Hello Freshmen and Families,

Welcome to Hempfield High School — your new “home” for the next four years!

As you begin this exciting new chapter, you may find yourself looking back at your elementary and middle school years and thinking, “How am I already in high school?” And if you’re not asking that question, I’m sure your parents or guardians are!

The transition to high school can bring a mix of emotions. You may feel nervous about entering a larger school and joining students from both middle schools, while at the same time feeling excited about all that HHS has to offer. From a wide variety of academic courses and clubs, including WIN5, to fine arts programs, athletics, and countless opportunities to connect with others, there truly is something for everyone at HHS.

One of the things that makes our school special is our commitment to PRIDE — Perseverance, Respect, Involvement, Discipline, and Excellence. You’ll hear these words often throughout your time at HHS. I hope that PRIDE becomes more than just an acronym — I hope it becomes a guide for how you treat others, approach challenges, make decisions, and contribute to our school community.

As you begin your freshman year, take a chance, make new connections, and get involved! Find the people, activities, classes, and experiences that make you excited to come to school each day. Your high school experience will be uniquely yours, and success will look different for everyone. Don’t worry about what someone else’s journey looks like — be your best self every day!

Most importantly, know that you belong here. You are an important part of the HHS community, and we are excited to have you with us. We are here to help you navigate these next four years and make the most of your high school experience.
