HSD’s 16th Annual Food Drive, presented by JK Mechanical, is happening now!

Throughout February, each building across the district will collect non-perishable food items to benefit the Hempfield Area Food Pantry. Donations can be dropped off at your school's office from now through the morning of Friday, February 27.

Items of Need Include (Prefer No Glass Jars)

- Canned black beans
- Canned beets
- 1 lb. bag dried beans
- Elbow macaroni
- Mac & cheese
- Cereal
- 18 oz. jelly
- Canned pineapple
- Canned peaches
- Canned fruit cocktail

Attention families of 10th grade students: The PSAT 10 is an optional practice test for 10th grade students seeking experience for future PSAT/SAT exams. All students will have the opportunity to take the regular PSAT for free as juniors next year. This year, we will be offering the PSAT 10 on Friday, March 20, during the school day. If you'd like to register your student, please click the link below. The cost for this optional exam is $25. You can pay by cash or check. Checks should be made out to 'Hempfield School District’ and turned into the Buchanan Counseling Office. Registration will close on February 13.  

There will be a mandatory demographic session during WIN on Tuesday, March 17. Please contact 10th grade counselors Mrs. Bauer or Mrs. Weber with any questions.

Principal’s Message

HHS Community,

Thank you to all parents and guardians who were able to attend last week’s Parent/Guardian Meeting. It was wonderful to share the many great things happening at HHS and to hear valuable feedback from the parent perspective. Our next Parent/Guardian Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m. in LG2, and we hope you will join us.

This past Friday, Student Council hosted the Winter Formal. Over the years, we have heard from underclassmen who wanted an additional opportunity to attend a school dance, since they do not participate in Senior Prom. Nearly 500 students attended, enjoying an evening of dancing and celebration. Thank you to everyone who came out, and especially to Student Council for their hard work on continuing this new tradition.

I would also like to recognize our student body for the strong turnout on Saturday for the first round of the LL League Basketball Tournament. This marked the first playoff game hosted at HHS in several years, and drawing a large crowd on a Saturday afternoon is no small feat. Congratulations to our students for showing up to support one another, and to the team for securing the win.

Finally, tickets are now on sale for our spring musical, Les Misérables. The cast, crew, and many others are working incredibly hard to bring this powerful story to life. Tickets may be purchased online HERE, and performances will take place on March 6, 7, and 8.
