How to Obtain a Work Permit for Minors
In Pennsylvania, minors between the ages of 14-18 must obtain a work permit. Work permits cannot be issued to children under the age of 14. Work permits are issued by the school district in which the student resides. It is only valid for employment within the state of Pennsylvania.
To obtain a work permit, please follow these directions:
-
Pick up the Application for Work Permit in the Franklin Office between 7:20 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-
Once the application has been filled out and signed by a parent/guardian, students should return the completed Application for Work Permit to the Franklin Office.
-
After the application is received, the permit will be issued and the student will be contacted to sign and pick up the permit in the Franklin Office during WIN.
If your student is enrolled in the district, no other documentation is necessary. If your student lives in the district but is not enrolled in a Hempfield school, proof of birth is required via a birth certificate or valid passport.
